JAHMAINE REID?

Meet West Yorkshires chart-topping

award winning music producer

Jahmaine Reid (commercially known as J-Dan Productions) is a music producer/composer, musician, pianist and DJ. Born and bread in West Yorkshire, UK. Classically trained, known for his wide spread talents on the piano, J-Dan has made an impact across various genres from RnB/Neo Soul, to Afro Beats and most recently chart success in Drill/Rap/Hip Hop.

JAHMAINES STORY

Jahmaine’s love for music began when he was just a child: at age 7, he naturally was drawn to the family keyboard in which his elder sister played. In the family home Jahmaines elder sister went on to teach him some songs like Aristocats, and the Bugsy Malone theme tune which he grasped and ran with using these new skills to his own devices. Learning the piano at the young age 6, by 9 years old Jahmaine had already started making Jungle and Grime beats alongside his brother who showed him how to use his first DAW Reason 2.0. Even back then in the early 2000s Jahmaine’s music was renowned to ignite functions as he began to develop a strong liking amongst people.

Moving onto secondary education, aged 11 Jahmaine started doing piano lessons and flying through grades at an expeditious rate. Tutors began to see huge potential in the abilities of the young mogul. In his early teens, he preferred spending the majority of his weekends and summers in his room with his keyboard, making beats - this slowly became Jahmaines training  ground for what would blossom to be a bright future of production in the music industry. He performed in concerts and gigs in places like Saltaire, Leeds and many more building his confidence and skillset through his teenage years.

All wasn't a up hill battle, he faced setbacks when it came to his academic studies at A Level, Jahmaine was expelled from 6th form. He didn't let this hold him back and instead used this as an installation of a battery in his back to pursue his ambition. In his time away from mainstream education he went on to complete his Grade 8 in piano. He didn't stop there he went on to secure a music BTEC diploma and then a degree in Music at Leeds College Of Music despite all doubts teachers may of had after his exclusion. Throughout this period Jahmaine started building quite a buzz uploading his production work on DSP Soundcloud. He accumulated a massive 1 Million+ streams collectively and started to build a fanbase with his Hip Hop and R&B style beats infused with his authentic musical & old school sampled sound. These are the same beats that would go on to be used by YouTube channels such as Seen Through Glass and Schmee150.

Over time Jahmaine formed a production partnership alongside best friend 1st Born music, also established producer, songwriter and engineer making hundreds of beats through the passion and love of the music. The pair did months and months of sessions in London sleeping on studio floors and in cars as they patiently waited for opportunities to come which they could take advantage of!

In 2020, J-Dan’s first official production placement finally came with the release of JJ Esko - Man On A Mission which managed to secure a GRM Premiere accumulating over 600,000 streams/plays across all platforms.

Later that year, Nines released his album 'Crabs In A Bucket' which went on to go Silver - featuring its lead single "CLOUT" produced by Jahmaine and frequent collaborator 1st Born. This album made it No.1 in UK Official Album Charts, winning “ALBUM OF THE YEAR” at the MOBO Awards. "CLOUT" also went on to be nominated for “VIDEO OF THE YEAR” at the same award show after achieving a Top 50 in the UK Single charts & #1 Trending on YouTube.

2020 went on to be an even bigger year  for the pair going on to have further chart success with production credits on Dutchavelli's 'Dutch From The 5th' album with the track "Never Really Mine". The single went on to go Silver, accumulating over 32 Million Streams on Spotify alone charting despite no official music video being made for it.

Jahmaine continues to work with cross-genre artists and bands across the UK helping the stars of tomorrow bring out their ultimate potential. Already tipped for huge things in 2023 by industry big hitters, Jahmaine continues to add value in various other areas offering tuition & hire services - check out the services page for more .
